Wear-resistant coating

All tools and accessories even with the highest quality wear off with time. The solution for this is applying technologies for longer life of tooling. There are two ways to achieve this. The first is replacing the material of the tools with the better one which is very often a time and money consuming process, something that a lot of companies and workers cannot afford.

We offer a better solution — applying new wear-resistance coating to the old tools and accessories.

10 times increased durability

We specialize in applying wear-resistant and decorative PVD coatings for cutting tools and equipment. Coating job is conducted in the tooling reconstruction laboratory of Garda Industrial company in Tallinn.

The PVD method involves the use of a vacuum chamber: the coating tool is installed in a special holder, which rotates the tool to evenly apply a coating on its surface. The advantages of this technology include the fact that the coating can be simultaneously applied to a big number of tools placed in a vacuum chamber. This ensures a high quantity of the processed instruments without harming the quality of the processing.

The range of tools and accessories we apply our coating to

  • Carbide drills
  • Carbide cutters
  • Tappers
  • Sweeps
  • High-speed tooling
  • Gear cutting tooling (shaper cutters, worm cutters)
  • Calibrators for vinyl sliding manufacturing
  • Threading rollers
  • Neck ring molds
  • Dies (including extrusion dies) and punches
  • Rolls
  • Cutting dies
  • Machine parts
  • Implants and medical instruments
  • Jewerly
  • Phone cases, watches

Future development

Garda Industrial have recently begun to offer Estonian and other companies a comprehensive tooling restoration services including applying coating with new technological equipment. But during this time we have already achieved a significant increase in the durability of our customers’ tools and accessories.

At this moment we use a universal vacuum plasma ark unit to apply coatings to instruments, mainly of industrial purpose.

By March 2021 we are planning to launch a new vacuum unit which will significantly increase our productivity, introduce new coatings (including CrN and nACo) and broaden the range of processed tools and accessories.
